It was a long time coming for the Regina Thunder, after dropping three games last season including the P-F-C Final and both regular season meetings against the Hilltops this season, they entered today’s game with more than a chip on their shoulders. Looking to avenge the past two seasons and put an end to the Hilltops reign of the P-F-C, the Thunder stormed into the Bridge City to the tune of a 24-19 victory to capture the P-F-C Championship.

Regina would get the scoring started on their first possession of the game marching the ball down field for a 7-0 lead. After the first possession for the Hilltops was unsuccessful, they would get the ball back in the red zone immediately after a punt return fumble recovered by Javon Mann. Regina’s defense would keep Saskatoon out of the end zone, settling for a field goal 22-yards out from Tejion Able-Douglas putting the Toppers on board, now 7-3 Thunder at the end of the first.
Regina would increase their lead again early in the second quarter with another field goal, now 10-3 and the Thunder defense coming down strong on the Hilltops offence. Both sides would trade miss field goal attempts, including one from Able-Douglas nailing the left upright.
Still down by seven to open the second half and receiving the ball, the Hilltops offence was looking to respond and get themselves back into the game. Unfortunately their first possession resulted in no points, while Regina would find the end zone early in the third increasing the lead to 17-3. Late in the third after the Thunder conceded a safety, Corbin Ebben found the end zone after a solid drive led by Tre Reider pulling the Hilltops back into the game, now only a 17-12 Thunder lead.
Into the fourth quarter with the Hilltops starting to find some rhythm, a punt return fumble recovered by Regina resulted in another Thunder touchdown making it a 24-12 lead. Saskatoon had chances throughout the fourth before finally finding the end zone once again with under five to go, now only a 24-19 Thunder lead. Saskatoon would get one last chance to pull ahead late, but Regina’s defence came up big once again to seal the victory, and the P-F-C Championship to dethrone the defending champions.
