On Thursday just before 2 p.m. Waskesiu/Montreal Lake RCMP initially received a report that a five-day-old baby had been taken from a home on Montreal Lake Cree Nation by his father.
Subsequent investigation led to Saskatchewan RCMP determining the incident met the criteria for the issuance of an Amber Alert. The alert was issued at approximately 5:08 p.m.
Saskatchewan RCMP says ensuing information that was gathered, about the baby who was the subject of an amber alert, being taken from a health clinic, was incorrect.
Shortly after the Amber Alert was issued the father turned himself in to police at the Big River RCMP detachment with the baby. The infant appeared healthy and safe however EMS was called to assess him as a precaution.
The investigation continues but all photos relating to the Amber Alert have been removed to respect the privacy of those involved.
