The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency has proclaimed today as Test Your Smoke Alarm Day in the province. As of July 2022, all Saskatchewan residential buildings are required to have working smoke alarms and carbon monoxide alarms.
Saskatoon Fire Department Fire Marshall, Ryan Bradley says having working smoke alarms in your home, cuts the risk of dying in a fire by half.
Fire Prevention Week is coming up starting next Sunday and in advance of that SFD is hosting two open houses. One took place this past Wednesday and there’s another coming up this Wednesday at Fire Station Number 8 on Slimmon Road. Each open house includes fire engine tours, presentations on fire prevention, treats and a chance to meet with members of the Saskatoon Fire Department.
