It’s my Parting Shot for my Weekend Short Shots…..
Once again, a reminder to Rider Nation that tomorrow’s Saskatchewan Roughriders-Ottawa RedBlacks’ game can only be seen on C-T-V, not T-S-N! When the first of these Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock kick-offs happened three weeks ago for The Banjo Bowl, not many people paid attention to the countless promos on T-S-N’s C-F-L telecasts saying that the game would be on C-T-V! I got texts and e-mails from people wondering where the game was and Boots and Salutes had a few folks complain about the change – something that they should’ve known had they been paying attention!!
Actually, it’s not just Green and White fans that aren’t figuring out about C-T-V’s return to the C-F-L broadcast landscape. Ratings for the Saturday afternoon games on C-T-V have fallen below T-S-N numbers and way below expectations! Oh, oh!!
I rarely listen to Boots and Salutes, mostly because I’m not in my vehicle driving between 7-50 and 8 a.m. on weekdays! The other reason is the negative tone to the callers. I salute Ben Brooks – who has followed beautifully in the footsteps of his predecessors Dave Thomas, Rod Kitter and Vic Dubois – and not gone off and told callers that their opinions are baseless drivel! Which is why I will never be asked to host Boots and Salutes because it would be a 10-minute argument session, me against some callers!!
One caller this morning booted the hockey season being too long and not liking that the Saturday Old Tyme Dance Party on CJWW was delayed in starting because of Blades’ hockey games. While I can understand that the Old Tyme Dance Party is a legacy program with a niche audience, I have nothing to do with the fact that Blades’ hockey games are on CJWW and Major Junior hockey teams want to schedule games on Saturdays! I will say that Blades Hockey should be and needs to be on CJWW because of its strong signal and coverage area! Plus, CJWW makes money from Blades hockey, and that’s my final thought on that!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk…and it turned out nice again!
