The first stages of construction on the new Urgent Care Centre in Saskatoon are set to take place this fall.
A release from the provincial government says building the Urgent Care Centre at 215 Avenue S South, right beside St. Paul’s Hospital, should alleviate some of the overcrowding being experienced there.
The Saskatoon UCC will feature a multi-disciplinary team that is able to assess and treat illnesses, injuries and mental health and addictions needs.
Foundation work will begin soon, as the Government of Saskatchewan and Ahtahkakoop Cree Developments signed the final development agreement for the project today. ACD is expected to incorporate the former Pleasant Hill School building into their future development plans.
Construction is slated to be complete by spring of 2026.
The UCC’s design will model that of the existing Regina Urgent Care Centre, which started seeing patients in July. Over the first two months, the UCC received an average of 110 patients per day, and nearly 7,000 patients in total over the same time frame.
