Friday night will mark the third year in a row that the Jim Neilson Sports Complex in Big River will host the “Big Match.” The multi-use facility has become an integral part of the Big River community, with two exhibition games scheduled for this weekend, both of which are expected to sell out.
Tonight is an exhibition match between two Canada West Men’s Hockey teams, the University of Saskatchewan Huskies and the University of Regina Cougars, with both sides featuring former W-H-L stars, such as former Blades captain Trevor Wong and goaltender Ethan Chadwick, who will be joining the Huskies for the upcoming season.
Saturday afternoon will see a clash of S-J-H-L squads, the La Ronge Ice Wolves and the Nipawin Hawks, both of whom participated in the Big Match at this time last year. Puck drop for both games this weekend is at 5:00 p.m.
