Tomorrow (Thurs) is the kickoff of United Way Saskatoon’s annual community fundraising campaign, with a Stuff the Bus event. United Way Saskatoon CEO Sheri Benson says from 11:30 to 1:30pm at Civic Square, there will be a bus on site for people to stuff with a list of items that are most wanted by the agencies the United Way supports. The kickoff also includes a $5 barbeque, a hypnotist show, and a tradeshow featuring some of the organizations supported by the United Way to find out what they are about and how they are tackling some of Saskatoon and area’s toughest challenges.
Benson invites the public to bring new socks, baby formula, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, school supplies and winter clothes, which will be delivered to several support organizations including YWCA, EGADZ, and Global Gathering. The goal for the annual community fundraising campaign is to raise $3.5 million. The United Way invests in 42 local initiatives, including 35 community-based organizations Donations can be made at unitedwaysaskatoon.ca.
