Since its inception in 2009, the provincial government’s Graduate Retention Program has provided $801 million in tuition tax credits to more than 85,000 post-secondary graduates living and working in Saskatchewan.
With a provincial election set to happen by October 28th at the latest, the provincial government has announced that Saskatchewan is currently the only jurisdiction in Canada to offer a tax-based graduate retention program that provides a rebate up to $20,000 of tuition fees paid by eligible graduates who live in, or move to, the province and file a Saskatchewan income tax return.
Advanced Education Minister Colleen Young says there are more post-secondary graduates living and working in Saskatchewan than ever before, thanks to this Graduate Retention Program.
Graduates have up to 10 years after graduation to claim the GRP and/or apply for any unused credits.
