There are two dead and at least six injured after a group of motorcycle riders were hit by a semi.
The accident happened shortly before noon on Saturday on Highway #2 in northern Alberta approximately 120 kilometres northwest of Swan Hills.
Faust RCMP say an off-duty officer was already on scene helping the injured as other emergency services personnel arrived. The initial investigation indicates that the motorcycles riders were travelling in one large group when an oncoming semi-truck crossed over the centerline striking the riders. Those sent to hospital are described as having various levels of injury.
Although the investigation continues alcohol impairment is not believed to be a factor.
