A washroom trailer opens today (Tues) near the riverbank, at the site of the Central Urban Métis Federation (CUMFI) office at 315 Avenue M South. The City of Saskatoon says the Saskatoon Tribal Council’s program which has outreach personnel to help with those who are unhoused in downtown Saskatoon will staff the trailer and support Commissionaires who will be staffing the Kiwanis Memorial Park public washrooms.
In May, City Council approved buying a used washroom trailer, the staffing for the riverbank washroom location and for extra public access to drinking water for a total cost of $700,000 with money coming from the Reserve for Capital Expenditures. The washroom trailer will be piloted until October 31st.
