Lately I have been bumping into more and more people who say, “Hey, I hear you’re retiring”, which shows me that our radio stations have a good following. My reply is yes and no. I’m retiring from the position I’ve held since 1990, being General Manager of Saskatoon Media Group, which operates CJWW, 98Cool and 92.9 the Bull. I’m told that in observance of this, a breakfast is being held on Friday morning, September 13 at Prairieland Park with 100% of proceeds going to Saskatoon City Hospital Foundation to assist in the campaign to get a new CT Scanner which is urgently needed. Information can be found and tickets purchased online at cjwwradio.com. They tell me there will be some special guests at this breakfast, but they haven’t told me who. I said I suppose I should be there and was told, “Well, yeah!”. While retiring from being the manager, I will continue to be on the air for the foreseeable future, conjuring up these Coffeetalk commentaries Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays as well as hosting the 4-hour Sunday Sockhop Oldies show on 98Cool and Vic’s Country Classics Sunday afternoons on CJWW. I began my career in this radio business as an announcer, a disc jockey, an “on-air personality”, and I will now have more time to try and live up to that definition.
That’s Coffeetalk. I’m Vic Dubois.
