Saskatchewan RCMP in two different parts of the province are investigating the death of two women that occurred on Sunday. Around 5 p.m. Rose Valley RCMP responded to a report of an injured person at a home on Yellow Quill First Nation. A woman was located and declared deceased at the scene by EMS.
She has been identified as 24-year-old Terrance Tony-Kishayinew from Yellow Quill First Nation. A man was arrested at the scene who police allege also assaulted a second adult person who did not report injuries to police. Twenty-six-year-old Cole Smokeyday from Yellow Quill First Nation is in provincial court in Melfort today charged with second degree murder, assault and uttering threats.
And in a separate incident, an 18-year-old woman was killed Sunday morning in a shooting at a home in Wolsely which is an hour east of Regina. Keilia Windigo from Wolsely was declared dead on the scene by paramedics around 4 that morning. A male youth from Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation was arrested at the scene. He is facing weapons related charges as well as manslaughter and appeared in Regina provincial court Monday.
