Battlefords RCMP are investigating following the sound of a gunshot early this morning.

At 2 a.m., Battlefords RCMP received a report of the sound in the area of 108 Street.

Officers immediately responded and located a man outside of a home on 108 Street with serious injuries consistent with a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital.

The area was searched for suspects, but none were located.

Residents in the area may notice an increased police presence as the investigation continues, and if an imminent risk to public safety is identified, the public will be notified.
