For homeowners, it is one of your worst nightmares.
On June 27th residents in Kindersley’s Rosedale subdivision experienced a sewer back-up.
Nancy Schwanbeck lives in one of the affected homes and says a little after 9 p.m. that night she heard beeping and went down to find water coming from the sewer hole up into the basement. She says they tried plugging the sewer hole with rags and just standing on them.
Gus Schwanbeck says within an hour and a half of discovering the back-up, it was shooting a foot up out of the sewer hole. They say some damage was mitigated by the arrival of a vac truck but the sewer back up had already started to cover their basement.
Residents in the area plan on speaking with town council to find out what went wrong. The sewer back up impacted almost 60 homes.
