It was 18 years ago today (Sun) that RCMP Constables Marc Bourdage, Robin Cameron and Michelle Knopp of the Spiritwood Detachment were shot after responding to an assault call.
Bourdage, who was 26 and Cameron, who was 29, died eight days later.
Knopp was shot three times, but she survived.
RCMP reported at the time that the Constables were trying to question Curtis Dagenais about a domestic dispute with his sister, but all three were shot after a 27 kilometre pursuit on gravel roads, which ended on a dirt road south of Mildred.
Knopp was shot three times, but she survived.
Dagenais took off and it was 11 days before the police manhunt ended, when he turned himself in.
He was later found guilty of first-degree murder in the deaths of Bourdage and Cameron and attempted murder for shooting Knopp.
