With fireworks traditionally a part of the celebrations for Canada Day, the Saskatoon Fire Department has some safety reminders.
Before lighting your firework, read and follow the instructions and familiarize yourself with the space requirements for the type of firework being discharged.
Choose your location wisely, and a reminder that fireworks can only be discharged on private property.
Make sure your location is free of overhead obstructions, is clear side-to-side and is a safe distance away from anything that could light on fire.
Have water available to extinguish debris or smoldering embers and keep in mind that you are solely responsible for any debris that may land on spectators or another property.
Fireworks are only allowed on specific nights of the year, and tonight (Mon) is one of them, between dusk and 11 p.m.
