Chokecherry Studios in Saskatoon is inviting people to gather in Kiwanis Memorial Park this Canada Day, but not for the festivities you’d expect.

The organization is hosting a Cancel Canada Day walk, beginning at 6:30pm.

The intention of the walk is to shed light on Canada’s dark history of forced assimilation.

The gathering will begin with an opening prayer, followed by the walk, then speaker presentations, a candlelight vigil, and a closing song at 8:30pm.
