Mother nature let everyone know who is boss last night and this morning (Mon), with a severe storm that tracked its way across the province. The Saskatchewan Severe Weather Tracker Facebook page has reports of a funnel cloud at Warman and Aberdeen, and reports of a tornado in the RM of Bayne, near Bruno. Mayfield experienced golf ball sized hail.
The Mayor of Carrot River, Roman Charko, believes they may have had a tornado. The power has been out since midnight with many power poles downed. Mayor Charko says, “The roof of our community hall they say is pretty well toast, quite a few houses, power poles down, there are trees everywhere, one restaurant – probably half the roof or more is gone. There is roof gone off a car wash. There are some bins down in the industrial part of town. I understand, the seed cleaning plant, the building blew over.” He adds that one building not far from him went west, while other things blew east, so that’s why he believes it may have been a tornado. To top it off, Carrot River also had hail.
Charko thanks all of the volunteers from Carrot River and elsewhere who have pitched in to help with the clean up.
