Saturday, November 2 will be a special night for four athletes, three builders and three teams – all of whom are being inducted into the Saskatoon Sports Hall-of-Fame.
The athletes are Dione (Meier) Blackwell from softball, Jenni Hucul (pictured) from track and field and bobsleigh, along with a pair of multi-sport athletes in Elan Ballantyne and Stan Holcomb. The builders are Ron Boden from athletics, Brenda O’Connor from soccer and athletics plus wrestling’s Todd Hinds, who is being inducted posthumously. The teams are the 2000 DBJ Leasing women’s softball team, Lee Morrison’s 2009 Masters curling foursome and the Saskatoon Valkyries women’s football team. The 10 inductees bring the Saskatoon shrine’s membership to 185 athletes, 165 builders, 97 teams and 18 organizations. The Saturday, November 2 induction dinner will be the 37th one, and is being held at Prairieland Park with tickets now on sale.
