The Saskatoon Police Service says emergency responders were called at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday evening to a two-vehicle accident at Quebec Avenue near 39th Street East.

Police say a truck was travelling at a high rate of speed when it collided with an SUV. The four people in the SUV were taken to hospital in critical condition and a 22-year-old woman who was a passenger in the SUV died from her injuries.

A 23-year-old man driving the truck is charged with three counts of dangerous driving causing bodily harm and one count of dangerous driving causing death. Police say impairment was not a factor in the crash.

The Saskatoon Police Major Crimes Unit and Collision Analyst Unit are continuing the investigation.
