A strong start didn’t end well for the Saskatoon Berries Thursday in a 16-10, 10-inning loss to the visiting Moose Jaw Miller-Express.
The Berries responded to a single Moose Jaw in the top of the first inning with eight runners crossing the plate in the bottom of the first. However, the Saskatoon bats went quiet after that, scoring two runs on just five hits, while the Miller-Express chipped away – including six runs in the fourth inning – and ended up winning with a seven-run, top of the 10th frame in front of 1,582 fans at Cairns Field. That allowed Moose Jaw to improve to 6-5 for the season while winning two of three from the Berries during their mid-week series of games. Saskatoon dropped to 3-8 and will travel to Weyburn Friday night. The Berries and Moose Jaw will meet again at Cairns Field on Sunday afternoon at 1 o’clock. Following is Les Lazaruk’s post-game interview with Saskatoon head coach Joe Carnahan plus official game information from the W-C-B-L website…..
