After several hours of negotiation, the Saskatoon Police Service convinced a man to leave a home on O’Neil Crescent in Sutherland at which time he was apprehended under the Mental Health Services Act.
Police were called around 8:40 a.m. Monday to a report of a man threatening self-harm. Police were also told he may have a gun. When police arrived, the man refused to leave and reportedly threatened the lives of police from inside the home.
Once officers got inside, they located what was believed to be a grenade. The Explosive Disposal Unit attended and confirmed it was a replica grenade. Once a search warrant was granted and executed, officers also found an imitation firearm.
The individual who as apprehended is also charged with uttering threats to cause death.
