A Meadow Lake man has died in a two vehicle accident in Alberta.
Smoky Lake RCMP received a call at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday morning of an accident at an intersection on Highway 28 in the County of Smokey Lake. Preliminary findings suggests that an SUV driving at a high rate of speed on an intersection Range Road failed to stop at a stop sign and hit an eastbound car.
A 39 year old woman from Cold Lake, Alberta driving the car was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger, a 36 year old man from Meadow Lake was flown by STARS but pronounced deceased at hospital.
The driver of the SUV was taken to hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries and two passengers, who suffered various levels of injuries, were also taken to hospital.
Alcohol and/or drugs are suspected to be a factor in the crash. RCMP continue to investigate.
