This is time of year that the 2024 War Amps key tags begin arriving in Saskatchewan. The key tags, and the address labels which are sent out in the fall, are the major fundraisers for War Amps. Public Awareness Officer, Bob Maguire, points out that War Amps doesn’t receive government funding and doesn’t solicit donations by phone or door-to-door.
He says that any donations help to make a difference in the lives of amputees, including children, by providing financial assistance for the cost of artificial limbs, peer support and information on all aspects of living with amputation. One of the War Amps services is CHAMP- the Child Amputee Program which offers financial support but also helps children to develop a positive approach to amputation, to consider them a badge of courage.
Through the War Amps key tags, if someone finds a set of keys with a tag, they can then call the toll-free number on the back of the tag or place them in any red Canada Post mailbox, and War Amps will return them to the key owner, free of charge, by courier.
Maguire notes that keys can be quite expensive nowadays, up to $500 in some instances, so having a key tag can help so you won’t have to replace them. He hopes that people will consider War Amps for a donation. Click here for more information or call 1-800-250-3030
