Canada Post has issued a statement saying it is suspending its mail delivery to businesses in the 1500 block of 20th Street West in Saskatoon due to “unsafe conditions.”
This is the same block which houses the Rexall Drugstore, Saskatoon Community Clinic, STC Health Centre and Pleasant Hill Dental and Prairie Harm Reduction.
In an email, Valerie Chartrand, Media Relations at Canada Post says, “The health and safety of our employees is of utmost importance. We can confirm that concerns with safely delivering mail to customers at three addresses on 20th Street West have been raised. Affected customers have been informed of the temporary mail delivery interruption while we assess the area regularly. We will keep customers updated on our efforts to resume regular mail delivery.”
Those business who will see mail delivery interrupted can pick up their mail during a three-hour window Monday thru Friday at the postal facility at 115 Avenue H South. The statement from Canada Post doesn’t specify their safety concerns.
Chartrand also says in the email that Canada Post takes the temporary suspension of mail delivery and the well-being of their employees very seriously.
“It is our responsibility to ensure that our employees, who visit hundreds of addresses every day, can deliver mail and parcels safely.
