June is PRIDE month and Queen City PRIDE has cancelled the provincial flag raising and has barred the Sask. Party from participating in PRIDE month celebrations.
In the past there has been a flag raising June 1st at the Provincial Legislative Building in Regina to proclaim Pride Month in Saskatchewan.
Queen City Pride, in a news release, says, “We do not believe the current Saskatchewan government is our ally, and we do not believe it would be appropriate to allow them to take part in such an important event for our community.”
Queen City Pride describes the passing of Bill 137, otherwise known as The Parents’ Bill of Rights, as making lives of youth from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community as incredibly dangerous.
The provincial government is also not allowed to be part of the annual PRIDE parade in Regina.
