The NSBA- Saskatoon’s Business Association has written a letter to the Saskatoon Police Service regarding the concerns they have over the recent increase in crime and its effects on businesses.
A survey that NSBA conducted with its members determined that vandalism and break-ins are the top two concerns expressed by members, most especially businesses located in the north-end and downtown areas. The survey also resulted in several recommendations that were outlined in the letter.
They ask that the Saskatoon Police Service increase police presence and patrols, encourage businesses to report crimes to assist with data collection, improve the crime reporting process for crimes over $5,000, form a district liaison for the business community, and develop a property damage relief program.
NSBA Executive Director Keith Moen concluded the letter by stating he would be happy to elaborate on the recommendations with a verbal presentation at an upcoming meeting of the Board of Police Commissioners.
