Repairs to the wooden pedestrian bridge that provides access to Gabriel Dumont Park from Saskatchewan Crescent West have been delayed due to longer than expected shipping times for necessary supplies.
The components are expected to arrive the end of May and the repair work will be completed soon after, with the bridge expected to open June 7, barring any additional unforeseen delays
On April 11, the bridge was reported to be on fire to the Saskatoon Fire Department. The bridge’s structural capacity was not severely affected, and an assessment concluded the walkway bridge did not need to be replaced. Repairs to the bridge include replacement of 7.5 metres of floorboards, railings, and the centre wood stringer.
Pedestrians are asked to avoid the area and follow signage directing them to use an alternate route until the walkway is reopened.
