It’s my Parting Shot for my Weekend Short Shots…..
Regretfully, I missed the annual Dog’s Breakfast yesterday because I didn’t return home from Moose Jaw and Game 4 of the Blades-Warriors’ series on Wednesday evening until 1 a.m. Thursday! While, 25-year-old me would’ve said that’s not late, I can be up in five hours time and be fresh and ready to go, 65-year-old me can’t maintain that pace anymore!
I would’ve liked to have gone to the Dog’s Breakfast, not just to see Denver Broncos’ head coach and Super Bowl champion Sean Payton speak, but I would like to have visited with Payton’s good friend and former Blades’ fan favourite Kelly Chase, who was in town for the festivities. Plus, I would’ve liked to have caught up with the new voice of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Dave Thomas, who is going to do a fabulous job bringing the Green and White to the province!!
I was thrilled to get a quick visit in with Peter Loubardias prior to Wednesday’s game in Moose Jaw. Lou has a lot of things on the go, and does them all very well! A big reason for his being at the Moose Jaw Events Centre Wednesday was not just to visit with his bestie, the unofficial mayor of Moose Jaw, Kelly Remple, but also to take in the game in his role as a scout for the Calgary Flames. Peter is very impressed with Saskatoon goaltender Evan Gardner and sees big things for him in the next few years!
I wore a Toronto Maple Leafs’ game-worn Auston Matthews’ jersey to the Saskatoon Media Group/CJWW building yesterday. I’ve liked the Buds second only to the Winnipeg Jets in the N-H-L and I’ll explain why one day. But, I did so to get in the good graces of Matt Bradley and Dustin Anderson and annoy Jackson Imrie and Boyd Leedahl! I can be mischievous at times, you know!
If you’re attending tonight’s Game 5 between Saskatoon and Moose Jaw and are cheering for the Blades, take a page out of the American sports fan’s book and be loud and cheer BEFORE the game and not wait for the team to do something before you start shouting and clapping! The roars from you fans goes straight to the player’s legs and they will perform for you!! The atmosphere should be fabulous!
That’s my Parting Shot. I’m Les Lazaruk in Moose Jaw…and it turned out nice again!…..
