FB PREVIEW: 2024 Huskie Spring Camp
SASKATOON, SK – The 2024 football season officially begins on Thursday (May 2) at
the University of Saskatchewan with the return of the Huskies back onto the turf at
Griffiths Stadium at Nutrien Park for the 2024 edition of Spring Camp. 21 recruits will
join returning players and take the field at Griffiths stadium for the first time, taking part
in three practices before the weekend culminates with the Green & White game.
“I think this year we will see the next evolution of the Huskies,” says Scott Flory, who is
getting ready for his 8th spring camp as head coach. “We have graduated some senior
guys who have been leaders over the past few years but now it is time for the next
generation of players take move into those roles. This season provides a real
opportunity for that new core group of third- and fourth-year players to take the reins.
We are excited to get everyone back on the turf and get back to our roots as a team in
2024.”
New Recruits to Watch
Offence
Javin Boynton (RB – Moose Jaw, SK): “Javin has everything you look for in a running
back. He is big, fast, athletic, and physical while running the ball so we have high
expectations for how he will fit into our offence.”
Cohen Wright (QB – Calgary, AB): “We are excited to have Cohen, who has
Saskatchewan roots and is a former provincial champion in Calgary, join us. He brings a
good arm and mobility to the position while be poised and a strong leader in the
huddle.”
Defence
Jacob Goldstone (LB – Regina, SK): “After graduating some athletes at the linebacker
position and seeing some guys head to the next level, we have some roles to fill in the
middle of our defence. We believe Jacob can do that for us in short order and become a
high-impact player.”
Riece Kack (DL – Saskatoon, SK): “A two-time junior all-Canadian with the Hilltops, we
expect Riece to be in the mix of guys who will become impact players early in the
season on our defensive line.”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Huskie Football: Canada West Announces 2024
Football Schedule
SASKATOON, SK – The path to the 87th Hardy Cup is set.
On Thursday, May 2 Canada West released the 2024 football schedule and the road to
the postseason.
The University of Saskatchewan Huskie Football team will officially kick off the 2024
season on August 31 when they travel to Winnipeg for a rematch of last year’s season-
opener against the Manitoba Bisons. The Week 1 matchup is one of two meetings
between the Huskies and Bisons this season, with the two teams also squaring off in
Week 6 at Griffiths Stadium. Last season, Saskatchewan defeated the Bisons 30-27 in
come-from-behind fashion in their lone meeting.
Following their season-opener in Winnipeg, the Huskies will travel to the Queen City to
take on their provincial rivals in the first of two games against the Rams this year, with
the second coming in Week 8 on home turf. The game will also serve as the official
kickoff of the 2024 edition of the U-Prairie Challenge.
The first opportunity for the Huskies to suit up in front of a home crowd comes in week
three, when they host the Calgary Dinos at Griffiths for the program’s annual
homecoming game. Last season the Huskies lit up the scoreboard at homecoming,
defeating the Rams 40-6 in front of sold-out crowd of over 10,000 fans.
In Week 4 Saskatchewan heads west to Vancouver and Thunderbird Stadium for their
lone matchup with the UBC Thunderbirds. Last year the Huskies took down the eventual
Hardy Cup champion Thunderbirds 34-31 in a thriller under the lights at Griffiths.
The following week the Huskies will look to get revenge against Alberta, the only team
to beat the dogs on more than one occasion last season, as they welcome the Golden
Bears to Saskatoon.
After home games against the Rams and Bisons on both ends of the Week 7 bye, the
Huskies will close out the regular season with a finale against the Dinos on the road at
McMahon Stadium.
Also announced is a non-conference game on August 22 prior the regular season in
which the Huskies will play host to the Golden Bears in exhibition action.
