Jeremy Long Named Huskies Offensive Coordinator
SASKATOON, SK – Huskie Football head coach Scott Flory is pleased to announce that
after six seasons of serving as an offensive assistant with the Huskies, Jeremy Long has
been named offensive coordinator ahead of the 2024 season.
“I am thrilled to have Jeremy step into the role of offensive coordinator,” said Flory. “This
is not only a well deserved position, but also a natural evolution for a dedicated coach
who is more than ready for the challenge. I am confident and excited about what Jeremy
brings to the table and how he can support our mission to contend for a national
championship.”
A product of Calgary, Alberta Long recently completed his seventh season on the
Huskies coaching staff. After spending his first season working primarily with receivers,
he has spent each of the past six as the quarterbacks coach, working with Huskie field
generals Kyle Siemens, Mason Nyhus, and most recently Anton Amundrud. Prior to
joining the Huskies, he filled various High school coaching positions dating back to
2012.
Under Long’s guidance the Huskies have produced the best passing offence in Canada
West on three occasions (2023, 2022, 2017) while appearing in the Hardy Cup on four
times and the Vanier Cup twice. He has also helped to produce one conference MVP,
two all-stars, and an all-Canadian at the quarterback position.
In 2022 the Huskies saw arguably the best single season from a quarterback in program
history, with Mason Nyhus setting new Huskie football records for passing yards (2759)
and passing yards per game (344.9) in addtiion to finishing the season top 10 in
completions (197), attempts (298), touchdowns (18), and passing efficiency (181.9).
“I am humbled and honoured for the opportunity to be trusted with the responsibility of
leading the Huskie offence,” says Long. “I look forward to continue working with Scott
to guide the team to its full potential and continue competing with the top programs in
the country.”
As a student-athlete Long was a member of the Huskies during the 2014 and 2015
seasons, appearing in 17 games following an extended career with the Calgary Colts of
the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL). Long would go on to earn both an
undergraduate and master’s degree from the College of Education.
The Huskies officially begin their 2024 season on May 2 with the annual Dog’s Breakfast
followed by the beginning of Spring Camp.
