The Government of Saskatchewan says the latest Statistics Canada number show building permits in the province totaled $234 million in February which it says is a 96.2 per cent increase from the month prior. It’s the highest increase among the provinces. Year over year the province says a 22.6 per cent increase.
In a news release Trade and Export Development Minister Jeremy Harrison said, “Investors are seeking out Saskatchewan because of our stable business environment, competitive incentives and personalized support that make doing business easy. By strengthening our economy, we are continuing to build our communities, while providing more opportunities to the people of Saskatchewan.”
The government also points to the recent surge in population with the number of people in Saskatchewan growing by 30,000 in 2023.
Building permits are the dollar value of construction permits for residential and non-residential buildings.
