The second and final payment under the 2023 Canada-Saskatchewan feed program will be coming out soon.
Initial payments were pro-rated last fall to a maximum of 75 percent to help producers in designated drought areas purchase and transport feed.
The final payment will either be 50 dollars per head for beef cattle producers in the designated region according to the Canadian Drought Monitor Map. Those outside the region will receive $20 per head. This is Saskatchewan Agriculture Minister David Marit with a more detailed explanation.
A total of 3,486 producers with beef cattle, bison, elk, deer, sheep, goats, and horses applied. Producers were required to submit receipts for extraordinary expense incurred between May 1st, 2023 and March 15th to buy or transport feed, or for land rented for additional grazing or feed production.
