The fate of Saskatchewan’s high school basketball championship is in jeopardy. Hoopla is slated to begin later this week in Moose Jaw. However, the High School Athletics association says the event will be cancelled if the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation sanctions are not lifted by three o’clock on Wednesday. Some 750 student-athletes from across the province would be affected. At this point, the teachers plan to hold a single day strike on Wednesday in conjunction with the provincial budget as well as withdrawing support for extra-curricular activities on Thursday and Friday. The Optimist Band Festival in Regina would also be impacted.
