Saskatoon City Councillor David Kirton announced on Tuesday that he will not be running for re-election in Ward 3.
Kirton was elected in the 2020 general election representing seven of Saskatoon’s neighbourhoods including Fairhaven where a homeless shelter relocated. He has been at odds with Tribal Chief Mark Arcand after sending a letter to the premier and four ministers requesting a review of the Saskatoon Tribal Council’s Emergency Wellness Centre.
Kirton says after much discussion with his family he decided not to throw his hat back in the ring. “I will look forward to spending more time with Erin and my family and taking many more walks in the woods,” he said.
Kirton says he has enjoyed many satisfying conversations with his constituents and will continue to work hard for the ward he represents until the municipal election this fall on November 13th.
