Residents in Delmas were surprised on Monday when Highway 16 traffic started to funnel through the community.
RCMP say it started around 1 p.m. Monday when Battlefords RCMP received a report of an armed individual travelling in a vehicle in North Battleford. Battlefords RCMP and surrounding detachments located the male on Highway #16 near Delmas.
With an assist from the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Critical Incident Response Team, a 37-year-old man was taken into custody.
Highway #16 was closed as police responded to this incident and the suspect is in court today facing five firearms-related charges, three counts of uttering threats and one count of resisting arrest.
No injuries were reported to police as a result of this incident. Delmas is 32 kilometres west of North Battleford.
