Twenty-four hours after a third straight loss on home ice, the Saskatoon Blades traveled into Manitoba Saturday and blanked the Wheat Kings 4-0.
Austin Elliott stopped 21 shots for his third shutout of the season while the forward line of Brandon Lisowsky (pictured), Trevor Wong and Egor Sidorov combined for nine points as the Bridge City Bunch out-shot the Wheaties 49-21. If not for the netminding of Carson Bjarnason for Brandon, the score would’ve been more lop-sided as the Blue and Gold improved their record to 43-12-5 and moved closer to clinching first place finishes in, both, the W-H-L’s East Division and Eastern Conference. Lisowsky opened the scoring and added a power play goal plus an assist, Wong chipped in with two helpers and Sidorov was in on all four goals, scoring once and adding three assists. Fraser Minten scored the other goal for the Blades on a third period man advantage. The loss was the third in a row for the 29-25-6 Wheat Kings, leaving them just two points ahead of Prince Albert in sixth place in the Eastern Conference. The Blades’ next action is Friday and Saturday at SaskTel Centre against Medicine Hat and Edmonton, respectively. Following are the audio highlights from CJWW’s broadcast plus Post-Game Show interviews Les Lazaruk did with head coach Brennan Sonne and Elliott. In addition, there’s the official game summary courtesy the W-H-L…..
