According to Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools, rural school bus routes from outside Saskatoon into the city were cancelled this morning because travel was not recommended. Spokesperson Derrick Kunz says there are a handful of routes in the city that experienced problems with buses getting stuck in certain neighbourhoods. Buses will run at the noon scheduled times except for rural south of Saskatoon, Brighton, Aspen Ridge, GEMS, and the Kensington neighbourhood north of Diefenbaker Drive. For outside of the city, GSCS partners with the public-school divisions for transportation and those decisions are made by those school divisions which includes Martensville, Warman, Humboldt, and Biggar.
Today is also the day teachers are withdrawing lunch hour supervision for the day. This includes Saskatoon where students would have to be dismissed at lunch to go home. It also impacts North Battleford and area, the Prairie South School Division in Moose Jaw and surrounding area, Northwest School Division in Meadow Lake and area and Northern Lights School Division, which covers the north. Today, teachers will also withdraw from any of their regular extracurricular activities for the day, provincewide.
