The average wait time to see a doctor at a Canadian walk-in clinic last year was 68 minutes, compared to 37 minutes in 2023. The data is from Medimap, a Canadian tech company that matches patients with walk-in clinics, pharmacists and allied health professionals.

Medimap’s report says Saskatchewan wait times are higher than the national average, with an increase of 20 minutes from 2022 to last year, from 51 minutes to 71. In 2019, the wait time at a walk-in clinic in Saskatchewan was 27 minutes. Regina’s average wait time in 2023 was 61 minutes and Saskatoon’s was 76.

CEO of Medimap, Thomas Jankowski says Saskatchewan expanded the scope of practice for pharmacists, nurse practitioners and paramedics last year, which he believes will start yielding some results later this year.

British Columbia had the highest average wait time at 93 minutes and Manitoba had the lowest at 45 minutes.
