The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation has a news conference at 10 a.m. and the Minister of Education has a news conference at 9 a.m., after talks stalled Tuesday.
The STF news release says the Government Trustee Bargaining Committee immediately started stalling tactics when Monday morning the meeting was delayed until Monday afternoon. The Tuesday start was pushed to 5:30 p.m. but the STF says the GTBC cancelled altogether before that meeting could take place.
The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation says it is apparent the new mandate the Government Trustee Bargaining Committee was given was very narrow because when the Committee came back to the bargaining table, it was unable to negotiate without consulting the Minister of Education.
As well, STF says the government has since been in direct contact with them about a proposal that would occur outside of the bargaining process, but the STF insists all discussions must take place within the negotiation process. Teachers are planning job action for Friday and the STF says families can expect sanctions to resume following the February school break.
