Saskatchewan’s Serious Incident Response Team is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred early this morning in Saskatoon, as well as a dead body that was found inside a home at the scene.
Just after 2:30 a.m., officers were executing a search warrant in the 600 block of Lisgar Avenue related to an aggravated assault investigation involving firearms.
During the encounter, an SPS member discharged their firearm. One suspect, a 34-year-old man, suffered a gunshot wound and was transported to hospital, where he is believed to be in stable condition. Two women were also arrested at the scene.
Officers also located a dead body inside the home, and the death is considered suspicious as it is unrelated to police actions.
Traffic restrictions are expected to be in place in the area of Lisgar Avenue for some time. Members of the public are asked to avoid the area as the investigation continues.
The Saskatoon Police Service has notified the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team of the incident.
