The causes of two recent fires in Regina, which both led to the fatalities of two people, have been determined.
Regina Fire and Protective Services investigators now know that the fire on December 9th on 800 block of Rae Street was caused by tampering with electrical distribution equipment and overloading an electrical device. Two adults were pulled from the home and were already deceased.
RFPS investigators have determined that the cause of the fire that occurred on December 20th on 2100 block Winnipeg Street was intentionally set. RFPS is working in collaboration with Regina Police Service to support the ongoing investigations. Two people were killed in this fire as well; however, it isn’t specified weather they were children or adults.
All RFPS information has been turned over to the Regina Police Service and no further comment will be provided by RFPS or the City of Regina as further investigations are underway.
