Leader RCMP have provided a few more details regarding the break in at the Burstall Credit Union.
RCMP got the call Sunday at 4:16 a.m. and found the business had been hit multiple times by a front-end loader which destroyed the front office and lobby of the Credit Union.
The front-end loader had been stolen early on Sunday while the truck used in the heist was stolen later on Saturday from Leader. The dismantled ATM and payloader were located at the scene. The pickup truck and parts of the ATM were discovered later on Sunday approximately 10 kilometres west of Liebenthal. None of the cash has been recovered.
Leader RCMP continue to investigate. Anyone with information should contact Leader RCMP at 306-628-4600, anonymously by contacting Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or www.saskcrimestoppers.com.
The Hilda and Area Crime Watch and Community Awareness Facebook group originally shared information about the theft saying on Facebook that someone broke into the R.M. of Deer Forks compound and shop where they stole a payloader. The thieves then proceeded to the Burstall Credit Union and used it to smash through the building and steal the ATM machine. There is a video posted on social media.
The suspects fled in a dark coloured pick-up truck and it appears the plates were covered up to avoid recognition. The social media post says the amount of cash in the ATM is unclear, but the social media post says amounts of $25,000 are common.
Burstall is located 200 kilometres west of Swift Current near the Alberta border.
