RCMP are providing the public with tips on how to stay safe this holiday season.
A news release states that during this time of year, criminals are more likely to strike by stealing your money and robbing you of recently purchased gifts.
To assist with keeping you safe this Holiday Season, the RCMP reminds the public to be aware of fake websites, watch out for porch thieves, keep your receipts instead of throwing them out, and tell a friend or neighbor if your home will be empty over the holidays.
The RCMP also advise the public to shield the pin pad from the people around you when making a purchase, keep your wallet in your front pocket and your purse closed to deter pick pockets, don’t leave parcels or presents in vehicles, and be aware of fake charities.
In regard to safety, they tell citizens to prepare for bad weather with winter tires and an emergency kit, check the back seat of your vehicle before getting in, and have a plan in place when shopping with small children in case they get lost.
