Agricultural equipment dealerships are working with high schools to develop the next generation of technicians and parts persons.
The Saskatchewan Distance Learning Centre has been offering a combination online/work experience course for six years.
There is 50 hours of online learning, 50 hours of training at an agricultural equipment dealership and a one day “boot camp” at SaskPolytechnic. This week, the high school students are paired up with post-secondary students who show them what goes on at the SaskPolytechnic facilities in Saskatoon.
The North American Equipment Dealers Association views the program as an investment in filling current and future positions at the dealerships.
