On Friday, the Saskatchewan research council partnered with North West College to provide a new plastic welding pilot program to students.
The program is the first of its kind in Saskatchewan and aims to address the demand for skilled workers in the plastics welding field.
The micro-credential gives students the skills needed for welding PVC materials, which is a critical skill in the construction and manufacturing sectors.
Students are able to take the non-credit course at North West College’s Meadow Lake Campus, complete with state-of-the-art welding equipment. Students will also be able to travel to SRC’s facility in Saskatoon and practice their newfound skills.
NWC is now recruiting to fill the spring of 2024 cohort. Anyone interested is encouraged to visit the college’s website for more information.
