The Regina Board of Police Commissioners has hired the city’s new police chief. After a five-month search, Chief Farooq Hassan Sheikh has been named the 15th Chief of the Regina Police Service. Chief Sheikh comes to the Regina Police Service from the Alberta Sheriff’s Service where he’s held the position of Chief since 2021.
In a news release the Board of Police Commissioners says Chief Sheikh has over 31-years’ experience in law enforcement, serving in senior leadership roles for the London Metropolitan Police and West Midlands Police in the United Kingdom and as a member with both the Calgary and Central Saanich Police Services, among others.
Sheikh replaces Evan Bray who retired in June. Chief Sheikh will start in the new role December 1.
