The last of four scheduled Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation rallies is taking place today in North Battleford.
Teachers, parents, students, and community members will gather outside of Minister Jeremy Cockrill’s office, with a hope that he will use his governmental influence to address the underfunding currently happening in public education.
A recent STF news release states that although schools experienced the highest student enrolment growth in 20 years, budget cuts and underfunding gave the province a decrease of 145 full-time educators from 2021-2023. On top of that, a separate STF release states that the number of students with complex needs has also increased by roughly 40 per cent in the last year.
The first three rallies were held in Moose Jaw, Humboldt and Saskatoon, and this one will begin at 1:00pm.
