The former head of a Saskatchewan Crown corporation believes he has what it takes to help get the Saskatchewan NDP into office.
Ron Styles, who served with the provincial government for over 35 years in multiple roles such as former Deputy Minister of Finance and CEO of SaskTel, is joining Official Opposition leader Carla Beck’s team as a Senior Advisor to the Leader.
He says he would like to use his knowledge on government to help the NDP achieve their vision for the future of the province and achieve a higher standard of living for Saskatchewan residents.
He says over the past six years, the province has had a record of being the second last in Canada when it comes to GDP growth and job creation, more homeless on the streets, and very high rates of STDs such as HIV. He adds that many residents are unhappy with the current healthcare and education systems, and he hopes that is evident in the results of the next election.
Since retiring as head of SaskTel in 2017, Styles has worked as a consultant and taught at the University of Regina.
