A Park and Ride Shuttle Service has been implemented for staff of several Saskatoon healthcare facilities after they spoke out about some concerning events occurring on their way to work.
The Service Employees International Union says they rose to action after staff at the Royal University Hospital, the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital, and the Dube Centre told their employer that they were being harassed, assaulted, and followed on their way into and out of work.
In a news release from SEIU West, they stated that they have spent the last nine months hosting townhall meetings, gathering signatures, sending letters to SHA’s Chief Operating Officer, and meeting with City Officials to discuss the issue and find a solution. They also look forward to potential staff parking expansions at each facility, as well as the new Urgent Care Facility.
